Earlier we published an article about the Tavares report on Hungary, but this time we would like to deal with it in another way. One must bear in mind, that we do not see this as an attack against our country neither do we want to analyse the two-fold measure. Rather, we want to express our vision about the goals and the future of the European Union.
Without a long integration history we can say that in the infancy of the European integration the main objective was to secure the safety and peace in Europe by the integration of the nation states. Later, it became more emphasized that Europe needs a federation - a United States of Europe - in order to achieve and secure the desired position for the continent on the global stage. Under this global race we not only understand the economic, but also the cultural, social and demografical challenge.
We also share this sentiment and we think that the federation is important to achieve this goal, but we argue the form of it. We reckon it is undoubtedly desired, that the intstitutions of the European Union should better emphasize the common vision outwards, than to fritter away with the inner issues. Thats why we reckon the Tavares report is problematic; because instead of representing a common picture about the EU, it shows inner tenseness and dissension and this exactly slows down the fedarative runs, instead of speeding it up.
